Bay Trippin'

The name Bay Trippin' allows the crew at Quest a little freedom in determing where this trip will take us. Some days we venture out around the inner breakwater wall and get a glimpse of osprey nesting next to the East End Lighthouse. Other days we paddle along Beach Plum Island and view an old shipwreck that still lies along the shore. Both trips take us out on the Delaware Bay and include wildlife viewing, local history, and some perspectives of the first state from the water. We determine what area will be best to paddle based on the tides and winds for the day. This is great tour for a variety of paddling levels.

Dolphin Quests

Each Saturday morning we paddle around Cape Henlopen (you know, that curvy part on a map of Delaware) in search of the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. We take advantage of the tide, so sometimes we enter through the surf and end in the bay...other times, we begin our tour in the Delaware Bay and surf in on an Atlantic Ocean wave at the end. Regardless of where we start, we have a lot of fun and often encounter dolphins (sometimes close enough to look them in the eye as they surface alongside your kayak). Aside from dolphins, we see a variety of shore birds, a couple of lighthouses, some WWII coastal defense fortifications, and usually lots of sunshine.

Data from our tours is often utilized by M.E.R.R. (Marine Education, Research, and Rehab Institute) in their efforts to gain a deeper knowledge of our dolphin friends and help protect them from harm.

Plan to get wet on this trip. This is one of the more challenging trips depending on winds and surf, so it's not a bad idea to give us a call ahead of time to see if this is the trip for you.

Pints and Paddles

Pints and Paddles is the kayaking tour for the beer enthusiast. It's a relaxing paddle on the Broadkill River followed by a tour of the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. We start our paddle at the head of the Broadkill in the historic old shipbuilding town of Milton. The paddle is a leisurely one that often includes glimpses of osprey, heron, the occassional bald eagle, and perhaps a slippery river otter or two. Aside from critters, we see a variety of local flora such as southern magnolia, marshmallow, cardinal flower and an abundance of other plants and trees. After our paddle, we head up the street to the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery for a tour and some free samples. A great reward for your efforts on the river (and don't forget your free pint glass). A trip suited for any level of paddler.
